Easter Resources for 2022

Adrian Armstrong | Bible Engagement Manager

Easter is a time of year when many people who don’t normally go to church will attend a service. This year those numbers may swell even more.

A study by ComRes found that 25% of adults in the UK (an incredible one in four people) attended an online service during the first part of the Covid pandemic in 2020. Were these numbers to translate to people coming into our churches this Easter, our congregations would increase by four times.

How can we make the most of this opportunity? The Scottish Bible Society has produced a range of resources to enable people to engage with the story of Jesus Christ this Easter.

Rediscover the Easter story with the Light and Life Gospel

What can we give to the many visitors to our churches this Easter that enables them to discover more about Jesus? For people unfamiliar with church, or who have not attended church since childhood, the Bible can often be an intimidating book. It’s sheer size, differing format, and often austere physical presentation often act as barriers to people reading God’s word. The Light and Life Gospel presents the full text of John’s gospel in A4 magazine style. Full of colour pictures, the design, images, and layout enable readers to discover the life changing story of Jesus in a fresh way – whether they are reading a gospel for the first time or have known the gospel for a long time.

Bring the Easter story to life with Wonder Walks

Post Covid, we are walking more than ever. With spring now upon us, it is a time to get outside and enjoy the light of longer days.  Wonder Walks is an all-age resource that helps people read, think, and talk about the Easter story as they go for a walk.  Presented in attractive booklet form, it’s a brilliant way to bring the Easter story into everyday life.

Establish a new Bible habit

Research has shown that reading the Bible for ourselves is key to growing as a Christian. However, many of us struggle to do this. Our Easter Reader has a short reading, reflection and prayer and lasts for 21 days. It’s a great way to establish a daily Bible reading habit, taking a quiet moment in a busy and noisy world to hear God speak to us through his Word and talk to him in prayer. Designed to be used by individuals or a group, the Easter Reader is a wonderful way to dig deeper into the story of Jesus.

How might we use these resources to share the story of Jesus this Easter – with one another and with those in our community? After all, the good news of Easter is for everyone.
