In Guatemala, one in three families includes a person with a disability. Disability and poverty often go hand in hand – those living with disability are less likely to have access to information, services, health or work or be fully included in society.

Children with learning difficulties do not have a portion of the Bible that they can understand, and the Bible Society of Guatemala is working to publish Biblical material appropriate to the needs of this group. Specially developed material will also allow churches and schools to be more inclusive in their teaching of the Scriptures. As well as helping this group of children to discover more about the Bible, it will also improve their social and communication skills and grow confidence.
