Volunteers are vital to our work. Without them, we would not be able to fulfil our mission and many people would not know about the Scottish Bible Society. Just a small amount of your time can make a real difference in our work and we have a number of volunteering opportunities available.

General Volunteering

Our head office, Bible House in Edinburgh, is staffed by a number of talented individuals. From time to time, we need extra support and volunteers can help.

Our Volunteers Stories

I started volunteering at SBS back in 2015 when I felt God calling me into the world of global mission, but didn't feel like the call was to move away. I now assist the Donor Care team with a variety of tasks and I greatly enjoy my time spent with them at Bible House. I was warmly welcomed into the SBS family and have found the experience to be both stimulating and rewarding in equal measure. I feel I have played a part in the spreading of God's Word across the world through the work of the Scottish Bible Society.

I first started volunteering with SBS following a conversation with Robert Russell, the Head of Fundraising. I was interested in volunteering and, upon finding out more about the Bible mission, I felt called by God into this work. I have many highlights of my time with SBS, and volunteering on the stand at Keswick is top of the list. Not just the opportunity to meet and chat with people about the work but the conversations it opens in my own life. My work colleagues now know that one week each summer I go to the Keswick Convention, and it has been exciting to open doors for more in-depth faith discussions. I am forever humbled to see the impact of the work of Bible Societies around the world, including SBS, and I now have a sense of pride that I have been a part of it.

I first got involved in volunteering with SBS around 2013 when Elaine Duncan asked if Iā€™d be interested in taking on the role of SBS ā€˜ambassadorā€™ in the North of Scotland. Since then itā€™s been the most enormous privilege to represent SBS in a variety of ways, a real highlight being the Vision visits to Rwanda in 2014 and Malawi in 2017 and then being able to speak at lots of churches from the Western Isles to Aberdeen about the projects we saw. I just love it! More recently, Iā€™ve become involved in leading Bible-based Trauma Healing groups, and also manned the SBS stand at Keswick in the summer. In all of these situations, although vary varied, I am constantly blown away by the stories of how God's Word has transformed and is transforming lives!
